Grand Tour of Spain

This Grand Tour of Spain takes you through France and into Spain. You will stop in France at Arras and La Rochelle.

Discover Spain by Motorhome

La Rochelle, known as La Ville Blanche, was one of France’s most important seaports from the 14th to 17th century. The city’s limestone façade glows in the south French sun. It’s home to arcaded walkways, ghoulish gargoyles and an unmatched collection of lighthouses. While you are here try sampling the freshest of seafood or visit the Aquarium La Rochelle.

The first leg of the tour will begin at San Sebastian. This is an area of Spain known for its golden beach and picturesque hillsides. This city has something for everyone. It has beaches, Michelin-starred cuisine and refined, historical features. La Concha beach is a must for those that love the seaside. You will then move on to Bilbao. This is a city of bold architecture, an esteemed dining scene and stunning scenery. We recommend a trip to Guggenheim Museum.

Your tour continues to Pamplona, home of the Running of the Bulls. Here you can walk the city walls and visit the fortress. Pamplona is a magical, captivating place to explore. Barcelona is next. This is a city of fabled architecture, culture and a world-famous drinking and dining scene. Don’t miss Gaudi’s La Sagrada Familia Church. Construction started in 1882 and is due to continue until 2026 and Las Ramblas.

You then travel to Valencia, Spain’s third largest city. Take a trip to the Central Market and sample some paella from its birth place. After leaving Valencia you head for Granada where you will visit The Alhambra. In Granada, don’t miss the Islamic architecture, counterculture graffiti and traditional tapas bars. Next you travel to Gibraltar. Here you will experience what a sunny Britain would be like. You can visit a traditional pub, have fish and chips or afternoon tea. It’s why Laurie Lee said that Gibraltar is a piece of Portsmouth chipped off and shipped south 500 miles! Seville comes next where you will visit the Real Alcazar. It has a huge Gothic Cathedral and its streets filled with churches and Flamenco clubs. Finally, before heading back home you will visit Madrid. This is a mesmerising city with a unique and powerful energy.
