For A Taste of France – Wine and Cheese Holiday you will ideally need around three weeks as there is a fair amount of travelling, taking in a substantial amount of France. So, we can modify the route for you if you would like to take this as a two week holiday. Equally, if you are lucky enough to have a longer time frame we can also extend the route.

Paris Ile De France

This holiday begins when you arrive at La Belle Etoile campsite near to Melun.

This campsite offers a warm welcome, it is flower filled and set on the banks of the Seine south of Melun. This is truly the ancient heartland of french history and culture, as well as a superb location between Paris and Burgundy. Also, Paris is just 25 minutes away by train and within 50 minutes you are in Disneyland Paris. For those that like culture you will be enchanted by the 17th century Chateau Vaux-le-vicomte just 15 minutes away, and magnificent Fontainebleau chateau an hour away.

Vallee De La Loire

Furthermore, the holiday contiues by travelling 300 km south west to L’Isle Verte Village Camping.

Set on the banks of the majestic Loire, in the heart of the Valley of Kings between Tours and Angers. Camping L’Isle Verte invites you to discover an exceptional mix of culture, history and stunning scenery. Close by is historic Saumur, overlooked by its imposing Chateau and home of the celebrated Cadre Noir riding school. Take your pick of countless magnificant chateau, and gems such as the royal abbey at Fontevraud.

L'Isle Verte campsite

Vendee

The route progresses south west again, 180 km,  this time the destination is the Vendee.

The Campsite here is Village de la Guyonniere.

In a lush, attractive setting near Olonne-sur-Mer, one of the Vendee’s top destinations, Village Guyonniere is an enchanting campsite. Just 400 metres from the vast clear waters of Lac du Jaunay, this modern, friendly campsite is actually part of a historic farm, with many of the original buildings preserved and converted to form attractive amenities. The famous endless sandy beaches of the Vendee lie just 10 minutes away.

Atlantique Sud

Next you travel 450 km south. Your campsite is south of Bordeaux.

The campsite you will be staying at is Euroso Camping International.

Camping Eurosol is a peaceful haven among the pines, just 700 metres from the endless ribbon of white sand- the longest and most beautiful of the south west. The fragrant pine forests of the Landes border the beach and provide welcome shade, as well as enticing cycle trails and walking routes. If you can tear yourself from the beach, you might venture down to Biarritz near the Spanish border, explore the Arcachon basin (hoe to delicious oysters), or climb the Dune du Pyla (Europe’s highest sand dune). Gastronomy is a highlight here, don’t miss the confit de canard.

Perigord Vert

Your journey continues 330 km north east to the Perigord Vert area.

Your chosen campsite here is Chateau Le Verdoyer.

Right in the heart of the Perigord Limousin regional park, Chateau le Verdoyer offers a chance to discover the Perigord Vert. Here the everyday is exceptional: think gastronomy, ancient history, pictureque villages of honey-coloured stone, verdant green landscapes and a wonderfully peaceful way of life. Visit the Saut du Chalard or the Argentine plateau and you’ll discover sights often missed by other tourists. Aveyron

The holiday continues with a drive of 300km south east to Aveyron.

The campsite here that we have selected for you is Les Genets Camping Club.

In a unique natural setting in the peaceful heart of the Aveyron, between Milau and Rodez, we are a friendly campsite with plenty on 0ffer for all tastes. The campsite is adjacent to a lake with its own beach, so ideal for relaxing in the sun or something more energetic.The surrounding scenery is simply stunning; hike in the rugged countryside, walk through the wild herbs and discover the well preserved natural landscape, the charming little villages and the fabulous cuisine. Rhone Alpes

Your journey continues north east 250 km to the Rhone Alpes region.

The campsite we have selected here for you is Ardeche Camping.

Ardeche Camping is a family-friendly campsite located just outside historic Privas, the ‘capital’ of the Ardeche. It’s a peaceful spot amid wonderful scenery with spacious grassy pitches offering moderate shade, as well as modern rental accommodation options. Naturally, the Ardeche Gorge is a big attraction: a dramatic, twisting river with fantastic canoe trips, canyoning, climbing, mountain biking and hiking all on offer. Simply driving along the gorges is an exhilarating experience of nature’s grandeur.

Drome

Now you will continue east 120 km to Drome.

The campsite here is Champ La Chevre.

Camping Champ La Chevre enjoys a simply unique and natural setting. At the intersection of the Hautes-Alpes, Isere and Drome, it is a heady blend of grandiose Alpine panoramas, verdant wooded slopes and rugged pastures. There are stunning views all around, along with many marked trails, Grand Randonnees, and mountain bike trails for all levels of ability. There is a delightful swimming pool that is covered and the pretty village is a 200 metre walk.

Alpes En Dauphine

Today you will travel 120 km north to the Alpes En Dauphine region.

The campsite here is Le Coin Tranquille.

Le Coin Tranquiie is a long established family campsite with a real friendly atmosphere. Set between Lyon and Chambery, close to the Savoy mountains and with views over the Chartreuse mountains, it is a peaceful country setting and a landscape of dramatic lakes, tumbling rivers, waterfalls, ancient castles and medieval villages. Sud Bourgogne

At this point in your holiday you will travel 200 km north to Bourgogne.

The campsite is called camping Du Pont de Bourgogne.

Camping Pont Bourgogne lies on the banks of the majestic river Saone just a few minutes walk away from the centre of Chalon in Southern Burgundy. Recent years have seen major investment with new state of the art toilet blocks, 90 grassy pitches with electricity, modern mobile homes and a bar/restaurant with a takeaway. It is ideal for exploring the Burgundian countryside, the world famous vineyards and historic towns like Beaune.

Vosges

Approaching the end of your Taste of France Cheese and wine holiday you will now travel 270 km north west to Vosges area.

The campsite that we have picked here is camping Domaine des Messires.

Domaine des Messires is extremely suitable for campers who want to have a relaxing holiday in a green environment. In the middle of the campsite there is a beautiful lake which can be used for swimming, fishing and also, canoeing. Or look out over the lake on the balcony of the Bistro while enjoying a meal. You can also enjoy the nature by going for a walk or try other activities like mountain biking or climbing. Daytrips can be made to neighbouring cities, or visit the beautiful vineyards in the elzas. For children there are amny adventure parks in the area.

Back to Paris Ile De France

Finally,your last part of your circular route takes you 370 km north west back to La Belle Etoille campsite near to Melun. You will most likely choose to stay here for a night or two before making your way back to Calais and then on to England.
