Fort William and the Isle of Skye

Fort William and the Isle of Skye Motorhome Holiday

Fort William is a lovely Scottish motorhome tour starting in Fort William with visits to Inverness and the Kyle of Lochalsh.

Wherever you go in Fort ‘Bill’, you’ll be in the shadow of the gigantic Ben Nevis, which measures a lofty 1,345 m. The mountain track is easily accessed from the visitor centre in nearby Glen Nevis, with the ascent taking eight hours on average. From the top, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountains and Lochaber.

Inverness is one of Scotland’s seven cities and sits in the south of the Highlands on the banks of the River Ness.

Crowned by a pink castle and lavishly decorated with flowers, Inverness is a thriving city with a rich variety of places to visit and things to do both in the city and around. The city boasts a number of historic buildings in the Old Town that can be appreciated while browsing city shops. There is a great selection of places to eat and drink too with peaceful areas close to the city centre for relaxing and a great variety of places to stay. The city itself is small, compact and easy to get around.

Loch Ness is one of Scotland’s largest and most famous lochs, known around the world thanks to its elusive monster Nessie.

Just a short distance from Inverness, this impressive stretch of water is 23 miles long and over 700 ft at its deepest, making it Scotland’s largest loch in terms of volume.

Just driving around, you can see many of Skye’s most majestic geological features, such as the Old Man of Storr, the Quiraing and the Cuillin. But be sure to take your sturdiest of boots and explore these unique sights on foot for the real rewards.

Edinburgh

Edinburgh, the inspiring capital of Scotland, is a historic, cosmopolitan and cultured city. The city of Edinburgh is wonderfully striking; the city is perched on a series of extinct volcanoes and rocky crags which rise from the generally flat landscape of the Lothians, with the sheltered shoreline of the Firth of Forth to the north.

Edinburgh Castle dominates the city-centre skyline and from its ramparts you can look down on medieval lanes and elegant, sweeping terraces that hold over a thousand years of history, mystery and tradition.
