Yorkshire Dales Tour
The Yorkshire Dales is home to outstanding scenery, great castles, abbeys and a breathtakingly peaceful atmosphere. At its heart are two very special protected areas, Yorkshire Dales National Park and Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
The Dales are famous for its wonderful scenery, deep valleys, roads meandering between drystone walls and a patchwork of hay meadows and field barns. Up above is heather moorland and distinctive hills, such as the Three Peaks. There is the Settle to Carlisle railway which cuts through the National Park using tunnels and viaducts, including the iconic Ribblehead.
The Dales are popular for walking, cycling and mountain biking. After working up an appetite, why not try some Wensleydale Cheese or go on a sampling tour at one of the local breweries. The pretty villages and small towns each have their own charm. The Dales are worth a visit at any time of year.
