Stratford-upon-Avon is a market town with more than 800 years of history, containing not only many buildings that survive today and would have been familiar to Shakespeare, but also a wide variety of leisure activities, shops and places to eat.

The Cotswolds are scattered with small pretty towns and villages providing pleasant places to while away the time. Among the charming countryside you will find of interesting places to visit, including magnificent castles, ancient churches, glorious gardens, stately homes with historic houses. Spend the day exploring the picturesque Cotswold countryside, browse in an art gallery or antique shop, or simply soak up the history of the area. Shop at some of the oldest weekly markets in the country. Head to the picturesque market towns to shop or take time out for a leisurely ramble and stop for a meal in a traditional pub.

You should also take time to explore Charlecote Park, a 16th century Country house with its own deer park. Bleinhem Palace is also nearby, home to the 12th Duke of Marlborough and his family and the birth place of Sir Winston Churchill. If you get the chance visit Gatcombe Park country residence to Princess Anne.

The Pudding Club in Mickleton comes highly recommended, started in 1985 its mission has been to preserve the Great British Pudding. It provides seven puddings with custard every Friday. Booking is essential.
