This motorhome tour takes you around the beautiful towns and sights of Austria. First you will spend a day in Stuttgart, Germany before making your way into Austria.
Discover Austria by Motorhome
Whilst in Stuttgart we recommend you take a trip to the Mercedes-Benz Museum. Or you could visit Wilhelma Zoo which has around 1000 species for you to discover. When you get to Austria, your first stop will be Salzkammergut. This is a UNESCO world heritage site with a jaw dropping lake and mountain landscape. With its many lakes and mountains, it is the ideal spot to cycle, hike or relax and enjoy the view. Here you will visit Mondsee, home to the church used in the wedding scene in The Sound of Music. Next, your tour will take you onwards to Krems and Melk. Whilst here we recommend you visit the Melk Abbey. This is an 11th century monastery built in the hills overlooking the town. Krems is an easy downhill 3-hour cycle ride away from Melk through picturesque valleys. There is also a river cruise that will take you between the two. Krems is a medieval town at the end of the Wachau Valley, home to colourful, historic buildings. We recommend a visit to the Steiner Tor, a 15th century gate from the time when Krems had a perimeter wall. We also suggest you try the local apricot brandy ‘Marillenschnaps’.
The next stop on your tour is the city of Vienna. Vienna is the largest city in Austria and has many things to see and do. Take a guided sightseeing tour around the city. You can also visit the vineyards around the city. From Vienna, you will head towards Graz. This is an old medieval town with a blend of renaissance and baroque architecture. There are many restaurants and shops lining its narrow streets. From Graz, your tour takes you to Carintha. This is the southernmost region of Austria noted for its lakes and mountains. From Carintha you will travel to Klagenfurt and Worthersee. Worthersee Lake is well worth a visit and a lake cruise will give you the best experience. You will then travel to Salzburg, one of Austria’s most beautiful cities. Innsbruck is your next destination. Finally, your tour will take you to the Gerlos Pass, Krimml Falls and Kitzbuhel. Kitzbuhel is a popular chic ski resort.
