Tour of Croatia The Unspoilt Meditteranean

This tour starts with a night in Strasbourg, France. If you have time, Strasbourg has plenty to offer. It is the capital of Alsace and is best known for its Gothic Cathedral, with its rare astronomical clock. It has a unique architectural style, with timber framed white houses in the old town. It is also the site of the European Parliament and houses many fantastic restaurants.

Salzburg is the next stop on your way to Croatia. Salzburg is the hometown of Mozart and the appearance of the old town has not changed in 250 years. It’s a fantastic place to stop for some lunch. You will then head into Croatia. You will stop at Karlovac where there is a museum dedicated to the military history of this small town.

After Karlovac, you will head into Dubrovnik. This is a coastal town with white limestone streets and city walls next to the Adriatic Sea. It’s iconic white houses with terracotta roofs hide many museums and art galleries. You can take a cable car up to the peak of Mt Srđ. From here the view of the old town is phenomenal. You can also see across the Adriatic to the distant Elafiti Islands which fill the horizon.

From Dubrovnik, you will head into Split, Croatia’s second largest city. It is a great place to experience a perfect balance of tradition and modernity. While here, we recommend you visit Diocletian’s Palace. This is UNESCO world heritage site and a perfect example of a roman monument. There are also dozens of bars, restaurants and shops for you to sample a slice of Croatian life. Set on a small peninsula, Zadar is your next stop. It is a mix of Roman ruins, quality museums and medieval churches. While here you need to head towards the sea wall to see the spectacle of both the Sea Organ and Sun Salutation.

You will head to Plitvice, a national park which is home to leafy scenery and stunning waterfalls. Marvel at its turquoise lakes and take a walk through the forest. Your final stop is Trilj. This is a town with archaeological sites from Roman fortresses to Nutjak Castles.
